Working with a Nanny Agency in Orange County

There are several ways to find a job as a nanny; using online sites such as Care or Sittercity, responding to online advertisements placed by families on sites like Craig’s List or in print such as your local newspaper or publications such as the Penny Saver, and of course a nanny can also find employment by working with a reputable nanny agency.  Working with a nanny agency in Orange County has several benefits such as being notified about employment opportunities that may not be readably available to apply for outside of the agency, getting details regarding the position and family upfront before you interview, and having a neutral third party that is there to both represent you and to be a resource for you long after you have been placed.

When a new position comes in to our nanny agency in Orange County the first thing that we do is to reach out to the pool of nannies that we represent.  This means that you have the opportunity to apply for, and potentially interview for, the position long before the general public.  While the agency may do outside recruiting as well, it is not uncommon for the family to offer the position to one of the agency nannies long before anyone outside of the agency is given an opportunity to interview.  Also, there are many temporary jobs (think corporate back up care, date nights, vacation nanny positions, summertime nanny positions, etc.) that come into an agency such as ours that nannies outside of the agency would never even hear about.  Many of these kinds of temporary position come from various companies, back-up care providers providing care for large multinational companies, hotels, and of course private families that are clients of the agency.

Also, when applying for a position through a nanny agency in Orange County, you are privy to details of both the position and the family that you would ordinarily not be going through other job posting places.  When our agency sends in a nanny that we represent to a client to interview for a position, they are well prepped ahead of time on not just the general details of the position (schedule, compensation, benefits, etc.), but also on more intimate details such as the family’s philosophy, personality and likes/dislikes of the children, as well as the ability to have all of your questions regarding the position answered up front, before the interview.

Finally, a reputable nanny agency in Orange County will be there as a resource for you long after you have been placed with a family.  We are there to help you work through and mediate any issues that may arise while employed with the family you were placed with.

Do you know what a nanny service in San Diego does behind the scenes?

One of the things we are always trying to do at Crunch Care is find new talent for our clients.  We are constantly recruiting for a variety of positions typically bringing in about 7-12 new nannies a week.  About 80% of what we do here is child care related and 20% we consider other.  The other: portion of our business is Personal Assistants, Housekeepers, and other domestic helpers.  People always ask how we are finding the nannies and domestic staff we choose to represent.  We recruit through a variety of methods including:

Internet ads
Corporate care.com account
High ranking website traffic
Relationships with local universities (mainly for graduate or nursing students)
Relationships with schools
Relationships with medical offices
Referrals via clients and candidates
Print advertisement

There is no science to finding amazing talent.  It is simply a process that is never ending and we are constantly talking to people in the community.  As a local Nanny Service San Diego we try to maintain relationships with as many community oriented organizations that we can.  We advise our recruits that we want to grow with them in their career over the years and not simply place them once and forget about them.  A nanny service that does not develop their relationships is wasting their resources and doing a disservice in the community.

Expections from nannies in Orange County

Our clients often ask us what duties are reasonable to expect from their nanny.  In the Orange County area, nannies are often expected to do more for their families then to just care for the children.  Prior to hiring a nanny, a family should sit down and put some thought into what their expectations of the nanny are going to be.  While care for the children is always a nanny’s primary responsibility, the family should also consider what the nanny’s daily routine will be, will they have down time while the children are napping or at activities, or will they have their hands full caring for the children the entire day?  Regardless of what their routine will be, a family must always consider what they will expect from their nanny throughout the day.

If the nanny will have some downtime throughout the day while the baby is sleeping, or while the children are working on homework or participating in some other kind of activity, families should consider utilizing the nanny’s time to help out with things around the house.  It is very common for families in Orange County to ask their nanny to assist with various light housekeeping duties such as laundry, organization of the children’s areas, and to generally keep the home picked up and tidy.  If the nanny will be spending time driving the children to/from various activities, the family may want to consider utilizing their down time in between pick-up/drop-offs to run various errands (e.g. pick up/drop off dry cleaning, go to post office, pick up children’s school supplies, etc.) and do some grocery shopping.

When the nanny’s routine throughout the day doesn’t allow for very much down time, it is still reasonable for a family to expect a certain amount of light housekeeping throughout the day.  For example, there is no reason that a nanny cannot take the time to clean up the kitchen after preparing a meal or snack for the children.  The same is true for picking up after any kind of project or activity the nanny and the children may do throughout the day.

When looking for a nannies in Orange County, and figuring out what is reasonable to expect from your nanny we at Crunch Care are the experts.  We pride ourselves on our ability to effectively consult with families on their needs and expectations, and then in working with a family to find that perfect match.  Please give us a call today at (949) 415-7350 for a consultation.

Benefits of using a Nanny Service in San Diego

Many families hire nannies because the demands of every day life are such that they need some kind of help…  whether it be help in caring for the children, running errands, keeping the house tidy, or cooking meals.  So what is the best way to go about finding a nanny?  You can either set out to do soon your own, or you can work with a Nanny Service such as Crunch Care in San Diego.

Following are just a few of the benefits to working with a nanny service:

Time

One of the biggest reasons that families hire nannies is that they don’t have enough time to do everything themselves, so finding the time to hire a nanny can be very difficult for most families.

Conducting a nanny search properly can be a very time consuming process.  One must review resumes and applications, conduct multiple phone and in-person interviews, as well as talk to the candidate’s references.  In order to ensure you have quality candidates to choose from, this will require speaking with multiple individuals.

A nanny agency will do all of the above mentioned pre-screening, and ensure that you only need to meet with and interview the most qualified candidates for your particular position.

Expertise

Finding quality nannies is exactly what a Nanny Service does.  They are well versed in where to look, what to look for, and what questions to ask.  Nanny Services know what the current market looks like, and can guide a family with their expectations and help them to clearly define their position, and figure out what kind of a nanny would be the best fit for their family.

Ongoing Support
A quality Nanny Service will also continue to be a resource for both the family as well as the nanny, long after the nanny has been hired.  Families and nannies alike should feel comfortable reaching out to the Service they worked with to consult with them should any issues arise, or should they need guidance if circumstances change (e.g. family has another child, what to do with your nanny as the children are getting older, etc.).

Saving time, having expertise as well as ongoing support are just a few benefits of using the services of a quality Nanny Service in San Diego.  For a free consultation, please give Crunch Care a call at (877) 553-4231.
