There are several ways to find a job as a nanny; using
online sites such as Care or Sittercity, responding to online advertisements
placed by families on sites like Craig’s List or in print such as your local newspaper
or publications such as the Penny Saver, and of course a nanny can also find
employment by working with a reputable nanny agency. Working with a nanny agency in Orange County
has several benefits such as being notified about employment opportunities that
may not be readably available to apply for outside of the agency, getting
details regarding the position and family upfront before you interview, and having
a neutral third party that is there to both represent you and to be a resource
for you long after you have been placed.
When a new position comes in to our nanny agency in Orange
County the first thing that we do is to reach out to the pool of nannies that
we represent. This means that you have
the opportunity to apply for, and potentially interview for, the position long
before the general public. While the
agency may do outside recruiting as well, it is not uncommon for the family to
offer the position to one of the agency nannies long before anyone outside of
the agency is given an opportunity to interview. Also, there are many temporary jobs (think
corporate back up care, date nights, vacation nanny positions, summertime nanny
positions, etc.) that come into an agency such as ours that nannies outside of
the agency would never even hear about.
Many of these kinds of temporary position come from various companies,
back-up care providers providing care for large multinational companies,
hotels, and of course private families that are clients of the agency.
Also, when applying for a position through a nanny agency in
Orange County, you are privy to details of both the position and the family
that you would ordinarily not be going through other job posting places. When our agency sends in a nanny that we
represent to a client to interview for a position, they are well prepped ahead
of time on not just the general details of the position (schedule,
compensation, benefits, etc.), but also on more intimate details such as the
family’s philosophy, personality and likes/dislikes of the children, as well as
the ability to have all of your questions regarding the position answered up
front, before the interview.
Finally, a reputable nanny agency in Orange County will be
there as a resource for you long after you have been placed with a family. We are there to help you work through and
mediate any issues that may arise while employed with the family you were
placed with.
